Know The Variations Before Owning A Laser Marking Machine & Choose The Right One

When we offer someone a product or service, we do an obvious thing that is the mark on it. Sometimes we mark our organization’s logo, sometimes the code number of the product or serial number. Even a decade earlier, we use to plenty of types of stickers that were durable enough, not unfadable nevertheless. Eventually, in this today’s age, we are with a solution to make our mark permanent and quite gleaming. Laser is the ultimate solution for this unfadable marking. We also know this as laser marking or Znakowanie laserowe. There is a pool of equipment that we can shop today, which can mark according to the design, alphabet or logo. Let’s jump to the points, which are all you need to know about laser.

What Is Laser Marking and Variations of Marking?

Laser marking is a system where we use a beam of light in a high concentration. The concentrated light creates heat and marks on the surface we fix or desire to mark on. We can set any surface like plastic, wood, steel, fabrics and many more. But we require to select the right shift depends on each particular. Otherwise, the possibilities of accidents are not meagre.

However, till now, we have come with several variations of marking by laser machine.

  • Annealing

Generally, according to physics, annealing is a type of heat treatment. And, in the laser world, it is no exception. It runs by heating the metal surface slowly. During the process, the oxygen from the surface goes below and makes a change internally. When the metal turns to room temperature or cools down, we can notice the colour-changing process, and the mark becomes visible. Another most vital element of this process is the laser pulses and the speed of the laser beam.

  • Carbon Migration

It is a standard process we often experience in the laser marking system. This process’s rapid heating system allows the carbon molecules to be conservative on a specific area. It is prevalent in the medical sector to produce heat on metal and steel surfaces, ultimately triggering the antibacterial system.

  • Discoloration

Another most popular laser treatment is discoloration. The discoloration process also meets the same process as others, treating with heat. But this does not change the colour of the surface. And instead, it pulls the specific area slightly, which creates a difference. You can call it a foaming process as well. The discoloration process is highly applicable for plastic products. It turns the light-coloured products into dark and dark products into the light. We can colourize the surface with different colours also.

  • Etching and Engraving

Both of these are viral laser marking systems. These work on the object to make a mark by removing a significant amount of a particular portion. Today, most industries are using these laser methods to produce their logo or texts on the products, and these are generally the computerized system. The process typically starts with passing a concentrated beam of light. According to the input, the shaft runs on the target and creates a set of sufficient heat. Eventually, the heated part gets apart from the entire surface with ease.

For producing various fancy and colourful products, you can use one of these. Yet, there are some significant differences between these two. The vital difference is the depth they are grave. By using the laser etching process, one can create a 0.0001 inch deep cut on any surface. And, about the engraving, the cut’s depth can be up to 0.005 inches. There is another engraving available which is called deep engraving, and it can cut above 0.005-inch depth.
